OIS Triathlon

OIS Triathlon…

On Wednesday the sixth of May at Oamaru Intermediate School there was the school triathlon. Most of the students in the school participated although some did not. We did the Triathlon for fun and exercise. We also did it so we could be part of a team that worked together to win against the other participating teams. First, the individuals raced and then the teams raced.

I was in a team with Ella Forbes and Willow Barker-Deed. Willow did the swimming which was eight lengths of the pool. Next in the race was the biking which was my part. The bikers sat under the eve of rooms three, four, five and six waiting for the swimmers to tag us. I saw Willow running towards me which was the signal for me to start towards my bike.

On number one of my five laps of the field, my throat was burning and I felt like a crisp in hot oil. I saw the bikers ahead and felt determined to pass them, to win for my team. Sweat dripped down my forehead and into my mouth it tasted like the sea. I took a gulp of fresh water from my bottle to clear the repulsive taste. Three laps in I finally passed the boy beside me who seriously needed antiperspirant from like a meter away I could smell his stench of sweat.

Finally, I was done I found Ella and she started the three laps running. I could still hear the gears and the gasps of others on the track from where I was standing. The smell of sweat was still overcoming. At last, I saw Ella and Willow running toward me and I was finally happy the painful part was over. The only thing now was waiting for the results to turn up at the assembly.
